President Truman said flatly today at his news conference that no American troops will be used in Palestine, or anywhere else in the world, unless they are part of a United Nations force.

The President stressed that U.S. troops would not be used in Palestine, or anywhere else in the world, on a unilateral basis. This government will contribute troops only through the United Nations and only if other nations do likewise, he indicated.

Replying to a correspondent’s question, Truman confirmed that the United States is considering a $100,000,000 loan through the Export-Import Bank for Israel He noted that the Bank is the only possible source of an American loan to Israel.
