Zionist groups here today joined in mourning the death of Serge Koussevitzky. who took an active interest in Israel’s musical life and conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra during its recent tour of the United States, helping to make it a great public success.
Mr. Koussevitzky, who died last night at the New England Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness, was a close personal friend of President Chaim Weizmann, who succeeded in interesting him in Jewish affairs. He was also music consultant of Brandeis University.
