American Zionist Labor Groups Call Joint Na Tional Assembly

A call for a national Labor Zionist Assembly to mark the 50th anniversary of the Labor Zionist movement in the United States and to work out a united approach on the problems facing the movement, was issued here today by the Labor Zionist Organization, Poale Zipn, Farband-Labor Zionist Order, Pioneer Women’s Organization and Labor Zionist Youth-Habonim. The national conference will be held February 26 and 27 at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York.

The parley will considers l. “intensification of public relations work in Israel’s behalf by the American labor movement; 2. The launching of a movement for increased immigration from the United States to Israel; 3. The conducting of a shekel campaign, and 4. The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the movement in the U. S. and Canada.

The call also announced that the Assembly would set up a central body, a joint national committee of the entire Labor Zionist movement, charged with working in these four areas. The joint group will function until the World Zionist Congress next summer and will, until that time, speak and act in the name of the entire movement in the U.S. and abroad in these four areas.
