Numerous American Zionist leaders left today for Israel to participate in the 12-day session of the Zionist Actions Committee, which pens in Jerusalsm on April 19, to discuss the future status of the Jewish Agency and relations between the Israel Government and the Agency.
Dr. Israel Goldatein, head of a subcommittee appointed by the American section of the Jewish Agency to formulate a plan on the future structure of the Agency, today Revealed–prior to his leaving for Israel–that his subcommittee will recommend that the Israel Government grant a charter to the Jewish Agency under which the latter would get “exclusive rights to operate in Israel in the fields of immigrant absorpsion and colonization.”
Dr. I. Schwarzbart, one of the leaders of the General Zionist party, revealed prior to his leaving for Israel, that he will submit to the Actions Committee a statement proposing that a charter be granted by the Government of Israel to the entire Jewish Agency or to the World Zionist Organization. “However, I am in favor of a charter to be granted to the Israel branch of the Jewish Agency and to the Israel branch of the World Zionist Organization,” he said.
Among those who left for Israel to participate in the Actions session were judge Morris Rothenberg, national chairman of the United Palestine Appeal; Mendel ? Fisher, executive director of the Jewish National Fund; Emanuel Neumann, former president of the Zionist Organization of America; Mrs. Rose Halprin, president of Hadassah, and others.
