The committee on fund raising of Hadassah, at a meeting in the home of Mrs. Irma L. Lindheim, chairman, outlined its plans to raise the $610,000 budget undertaken by Hadassah, for the year 1930-1931. Mrs. A. A. Silberberg, member of the New York chapter praesidium, Miss Hortense Levy, Mrs. J. J. Levinson, Mrs. Cohen, Mrs. Simon Ruskin and Mrs. Robert Szold, national vice-president, were present.
Part of the fund-raising program is a tour of the larger cities of this country by Mrs. Irma L. Lindheim. The national office is also sending out a “Ways and Means” list to the 300 chapters in 39 states of the union as a good part of the money raised for Palestine is earned by the women themselves. Taxiing people home from meetings, caring for children in the absence of their parents, baking and selling cookies, the $25 and $50 “Give and Get” luncheons, and even the more ambitious undertaking of community bazaars will be among the various enterprises launched by the American Zionist women who support the Hadassah Medical Organization in Palestine.
These plans are in line with the resolution recently passed by Hadassah at its 16th annual convention in Buffalo— that “our answer to the Passfield White Paper, breaking faith and abrogating England’s pledges to us shall be no verbal protest, but shall take the form of raising funds and more funds . . .” and that “Palestine shall be rebuilt!”
