The question of making land in Palestine available to the new settlers was raised in the House of Commons yesterday by Col. Josiah Wedgwood.

Col. Wedgwood asked the Colonial Secretary what measures the High Commissioner proposes to take concerning the abolition of the tithe and the substitution of the land tax in Palestine, and whether the Palestine government intends to make the land available for the new settlers on easier terms.

Amery declared that he is unable to make any statement in this connection yet. He will, however, make a statement in the House of Commons as soon as the necessary information arrives.

Acceptance of the appointments of Andrew B. Sutherland and Mayor Walter T. Rochefort, as honorary treasurer and honorary chairman, respectively, in the United Palestine appeal drive in Lawrence, Mass., was announced.

The drive which will be conducted for one month, will be lanmched on March 18.

The goal of the local committee is $10,000, Samuel Weiner is president of the committee which has already collected $1,000.
