A petition submitted to the Soviet Ambassador in Latvia by the Rabbinical Association, asking that Rabbi Rappaport of Minsk be given amnesty by the Soviet authorities and permitted to proceed abroad, has been unanswered by the ambassador, the association announced today.
Rabbi Rappaport was sentenced in Minsk last year by the Soviet authorities on a charge of immorality. This charge was considered a frame-up and has never been proved.
