A check for $3,000,000 was handed over today by Abraham Dickenstein, president of Ampal–American Israel Corporation, to Dr. Isaac Moyal, representative of the treasurer of the Jewish Agency as well as of the American Section of the Jewish Agency, Inc., for financing immigrant housing in Israel.
The sum of loans extended by Ampal to the Jewish Agency for this purpose over the past 12 months now totals $10,000,000. The loans are earmarked for the purchase of construction materials and plant needed for the accelerated housing program which will house the heavy wave of immigration to Israel during recent months.
Dr. Moyal, in the name of the treasurer of the Jewish Agency, Dr. Aryeh Pincus, expressed appreciation at the cooperation of Ampal in meeting this urgent financial need through its prompt response in extending such large-scale financial assistance during the last 12 months.
