Ampal, the American Israel Corp. founded originally to channel American investment capital into the infant industries of the Jewish community in Palestine, began celebrations here yesterday to mark its 30th anniversary. A special flight from New York brought over 150 Ampal directors and shareholders to participate in the celebrations. They were accompanied by representatives of five major American banks–The Bank of America; Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co.; Chemical Bank; National Bank of North America and the American Express Co. During 1971 Ampal loaned $87 million to 81 Israeli institutions and companies.
