An ad campaign equating the suffering of livestock to Jewish suffering in the Holocaust is meeting stiff resistance in Germany. The fund-raising campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is “monstrous,” said Paul Spiegel, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany. Called “The Holocaust on Your Plate,” the PETA project already has been condemned in the United States by the Anti-Defamation League and other groups.
