An agreement for the rental of the tractors of the Ica, Jewish Colonization Association, operating in the new Jewish region, Zaporozhje, has been reached between the Ica and the Comzet, it was stated here to the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. This was made known following the publication of a report in the “Emes.” Communist Yiddish daily, to the effect that 35 tractors which the Ica operates in the region would be transferred to the Comzet for the “collectivization” of the colonies.

The statement given to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency declares that the Ica transferred the tractors to the Comzet on a rental basis only, for one year, on the condition that the tractors serve not only the colonies grouped in collective units, but also these colonists who do not desire to enter the collectives.

This measure became necessary because of the local Soviets’ insistence that the Ica sell its tractors to the non-Jewish village organizations, which would have left the Jewish colonies without tractors. In order that the tractors be kept in the Jewish region, the Comzet took them over under its supervision, paying a rental to the Ica, which has retained ten tractors to serve the Jewish colonists according to its own plans.
