An all-Polish conference to inaugurate this year’s Keren Hayesod campaign in the Republic of Poland was opened here Monday evening. Delegates from 442 cities, towns and villages are attending. The Speaker of the Polish Senate, Mr. Szymanski, the Wojewoda of Warsaw (Governor), Minister of the Interior and a representative of the foreign office were among those present.

Leib Jaffe, Jewish poct, who has been delegated to Poland to inaugurate the Keren Hayesod campaign, delivered the keynote address after the opening speech by Deputy H. Farbstein. If Palestine had a population of 200,000 Jews, an incident like that at the Wailing Wall could never have occurred, was the statement made by the Keren Hayesod delegate, calling forth the widest applause.

Prior to the opening of the conference, Mr. Jaffe was received in audience by the President of the Republic, Ignace Moscicki. The President, it is reported, expressed his deep interest in the Palestine upbuilding and pointed to the great economic and cultural contributions of Polish Jewry to the development of Eastern Europe as and the Orient in the beginning of Europe’s civilized period.
