An Argentine Jew became governor of an Argentine province after swearing allegiance on the Hebrew Bible. On Wednesday, Jose Alperovich became the first Jewish governor of the northwest province of Tucuman. Alperovich was able to swear his oath of office on a copy of the Hebrew Bible after the regional constitution, which required officials to take a Christian oath, was overruled.
