An Auschwitz survivor whom Israel has named a Righteous Gentile was appointed Poland’s foreign minister. Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, 78, survived Auschwitz as a political prisoner, participated in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and spent much of his post war life building relations between Poles and Jews.
