An Australian political party disenfranchised a candidate in upcoming elections after a newspaper revealed that he had been a member of the Nazi Party. Dan Van Blarcom, 52, had been the National Party candidate for the seat of Whitsunday, which includes the southern region of the Great Barrier Reef, in Queensland state.
