An call to “national discipline” and calm behavior, was issued in a joint appeal made by the Zionist Executive and the National Council of Palestine Jews.
The statement, addressed to the Jewish population of Palestine, deplores the events which occurred at the funeral of Abraham Mizrachi. It criticizes the action of the police as having proceeded “without pity,” and states that at the funeral, scores of persons were injured, including aged persons and persons who submitted to the order of the police. The organizations will meet the government representatives and demand that those guilty for this action will be punished.
The Zionist Executive and the National Council, however, blame the behavior of the crowd attending the funeral for rejecting the demand of the Zionist Executive to change the route.
