An El Al jumbo jet caught fire Wednesday at Ben Gurion Airport as it was preparing to depart on a flight to Rome and Paris. All 64 passengers and crew members aboard at the time left the plane through emergency exits as fire fighters rushed to the plane to extinguish the fire. The fire, which was caused by a short circuit in the electrical system, was spotted by control tower personnel as the plane was warming up on the tarmac.
