An immigrant from the former Soviet Union was named Israel’s ambassador to Russia. On Wednesday, Arkady Melman, who immigrated to Israel 15 years ago, was appointed the Jewish state’s envoy to Moscow. Melman, 45, is the first Russian immigrant to be named a major Israeli ambassador, Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
