An Interior Ministry spokesman said that residents of East Jerusalem and the West Bank will soon be permitted to cross the Jordan River into Jordan with only their identity cards instead of having to obtain special travel permits required since the Six-Day War. Visitors from Jordan will still be required to have relatives in Israel obtain special travel permits from Israeli officials, but under the planned arrangements, travelers to Jordan will be provided with visas for exit and reentry at the Jordan River bridges.
