Speaking Saturday at Park East Synagogue in New York, Israel’s chief Ashkenazi rabbi, Yona Metzger, said discussions he had recently with an Iranian religious leader at a conference of Muslim and Jewish leaders in Kazakhstan touched on the prisoner-swap issue.
