An Islamic militant group claimed responsibility for the attack that killed approximately 60 tourists outside an ancient temple near the southern Egyptian town of Luxor. The Islamic Group said it had wanted to take hostages to trade for Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, the Islamic spiritual leader who is jailed in the United States in connection with plans to blow up U.S. landmarks.
