An Israeli Cabinet minister said Israel lost last year’s Lebanon war. “I think that this war, and I said this throughout the war, was a war we must not lose. And we lost this war and the implications of this loss are evident today,” National Infrastructures Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, a retired general and former defense minister, told Israel Radio on Thursday. He was referring to widespread assessments that Hezbollah, merely for surviving Israel’s 34-day offensive, had been bolstered in the eyes of Arab and Iranian supporters.
