An Israeli general said Israel’s use of F-16 warplanes did not mark a change of strategy against the Palestinians. Maj. Gen. Giora Eiland, the head of the army’s planning division, said the warplanes were used last Friday because the Palestinian targets chosen for the attack were too big for helicopter gunships to have been effective.
