An Israeli ministerial committee approved in principle a statement which declares that Jonathan Pollard was “recruited by people who worked on behalf of the state of Israel” and that the former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst serving a life sentence in an American jail for spying for Israel could consider himself an agent for the state “even if his handlers did not receive the necessary authorization.” Pollard said in a statement that he had instructed his attorney to reject what he termed a “bogus offer,” saying Israel didn’t go far enough.
