An Israeli policeman died from injuries suffered in a shooting this month by an assailant believed to be a Palestinian.
The border policeman succumbed Wednesday to head wounds from the July 11 shooting in Jerusalem’s Old City near the Lion’s Gate. Another police officer hurt in the attack remains hospitalized.
Authorities blamed Palestinians for the incident, though a credible claim of responsibility from a specific faction has yet to surface. The shooter was said to have escaped to a nearby Muslim cemetery to avoid capture.
