An Israeli settlers’ group backed a call to resist the evacuation of settlers under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s withdrawal plan. Monday’s statement by the Yesha Council came after Pinchas Wallerstein, head of the Binyamin district in the West Bank, stirred fears of civil disobedience by saying evacuations slated for the Gaza Strip and West Bank next year must be resisted, even at the risk of prison time.
