An Israeli soldier was killed and two others were wounded when assailants in a passing car opened fire on their jeep about one kilometer north of Sidon in Lebanon on Friday. The slain soldier was identified as Karim Ali Amar, 23, of the Druze village of Hurfeish, a number of whose Druze residents have been killed in the Lebanon war. Amar had been called up for reserve duty only three days before his death.
