An Israeli soldier was punished for a politically motivated snub of the military chief of staff. The soldier, an Armored Corps sergeant who identifies with the religious settler movement, received a citation during last week’s Independence Day ceremonies but refused to shake Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz’s hand in protest over last year’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
