An Israeli was killed in a Palestinian shelling attack from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas terrorists launched three mortar bombs Thursday from southern Gaza into Kibbutz Nir Oz, hitting a factory. Along with the Israeli killed, three others were wounded.
The casualties were likely to stoke calls in Israel for a military sweep of Gaza, something that could jar Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s peace talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
“I’ve spoken about this at the Security Cabinet and the Cabinet, about our hesitation in making a decision regarding an operation in Gaza,” Finance Minister Roni Bar-On told Israel Radio. “My position on this is clear: The Kassam rocket fire has to be stopped in Gaza.”
