The attack west of Nablus was the first such attack in a week, since Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat called for an end to violence. Members of Yasser Arafat’s Fatah Party claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said came in response to Israel’s refusal to allow the Palestinian leader attend Midnight Mass in Bethlehem.
