An Italian insurance company sent letters to 70 Holocaust-era policy-holders or their heirs stating its readiness to pay their claims. The head of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims, former U.S. Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger, welcomed the move by Assicurazioni Generali, which comes in the wake of a recent meeting of the commission in London.
