An organization that helps people with Jewish roots return to the faith of their ancestors is convening a seminar on Mallorca this weekend. Shavei Israel’s March 23-25 event on the Mediterranean island will bring together 80 descendants of Spaniards forced to abandon Judaism during the medieval Inquisition. These “Bnai Anousim” from Spain and Portugal will attend seminars on “The Nexus of the Anousim, the Torah and the People of Israel.” They will have a walking tour of ancient Jewish sites in Palma de Mallorca, the main city on the island, and attend the dedication of the newly opened Shavei Israel center in Palma.
