An Orthodox leader said a rabbi’s conviction on sexual abuse charges has made the movement more aware and sensitized to problems of abuse. Harvey Blitz, president of the Orthodox Union, said there is now extensive training of staff within the youth movement. Rabbi Baruch Lanner was convicted in late June of sexually abusing two teen-age girls while they were his students.
