A French Foreign Office spokesman, commenting the announced Anglo-French meeting on the Middle East to begin July told the Jewish telegraphic Agency today that it will not actually be a conference, but rather the first contact between Roland de Margerie, director of the African and Middle East section of the French Foreign Office, and his counterpart in the British Foreign office.
The Quai D’Orsay spokesman emphasized that the “contact” would take place simultaneously with the conference of British diplomatic representatives to Middle East countries convened by Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin.
