Israel has established her determination to resist any effort by the Arab nations to destroy her by force “by her gallant and brilliantly successful Sinai campaign, R. N. Carvalho, president of the Anglo-Jewish Association, declared today at the Association’s annual general meeting.

Endorsing Israel’s insistence on holding military positions in the Gaza Strip and the Tiral Straits area, Mr. Carvalho said Israel “is right in not wishing to give up” these giant because it was from these areas “that attacks came and the economic blockade of the port of Eilat was enforced.”

He said it was the responsibility of the United Nations to establish such guarantees “as will reassure Israel before she can be expected to give up these positions.” He added that the Association was pleased that British public opinion “realized these facts.
