The broadcast was quoted by a U.S. listening station as follows: “The 28-ton motor vessel Shahinkaya, registered at Fethiye port, arrived at Ayvalik yesterday, delivering 34 Jewish refugees to the legal authorities. It reported the Jews forced the vessel to leave Istanbul. The captain poured the petrol into the sea and brought the ship to Ayvalik for refueling.”
