The 20th anniversary of the liquidation of the Vilna Ghetto by the Nazis was marked in Poland this week, it was reported here today from Warsaw. Of the 80, 000 Jews in Vilna during the German occupation, 35, 000 had been murdered by the Nazis before the rest were driven into the Ghetto which was established in 1941.
Of the 45, 000 Jews in the Ghetto, only a few hundred survived in hiding by the time the last inmates were sent to extermination camps and the Ghetto was liquidated in September 1963.
