The Israel Foreign Ministry issued a clarification today of an announcement yesterday that Foreign Minister Golda Meir would head the Israeli delegation to the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly. The gist of the clarification was that the decision on Mrs. Meir’s presence in New York would not be made for a few more days.
Observers here could not see the necessity for today’s official statement. The earlier communique, dealing with Mrs. Meir’s appearance before the Knesset Security and Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday, stated: “Mrs. Golda Meir expressed her readiness to appear before the committee again before leaving for the United Nations General Assembly.”
