The knowledge and awareness that are necessary to effective living as American Jews will be discussed at the week-long fifth annual assembly of the National Jewish Youth Conference which opens tomorrow at Camp Wel-Met, near here.
The Conference, which is sponsored by the National Jewish Welfare Board, represents 325 local and national Jewish youth organizations and is the largest representative body of Jewish youth in America. Delegates at the assembly will present first-hand reports on the attitude of the Jewish youth throughout the country toward various problems concerning American Jewish life.
Listed for discussion at the assembly are the following questions: 1) How can we as American Jewish youth become aware of the Jewish heritage? 2) How does the home, the synagogue, the Center, the school and the community help Jewish youth to attain a greater knowledge and understanding of the Jewish heritage? 3) How can we contribute to the enrichment of American culture? 4) How can our heritage help us in dealing with such questions as assimilation, relationships with non-Jewish groups, and world insecurity? and 5) How can our local councils, national organizations, and the National Jewish Youth Conference itself play a part in the development and enriching of our Jewish heritage?
