Annual Chanukah Candle-lighting Ceremony Held at N.Y. City Hall

The annual candle-lighting ceremony marking the advent of the eight-day Jewish holiday of Chanukah was held in the rotunda of City Hall today to commemorate the victory of Judah Maccabce and the Jewish people over forces of religious oppression in 165 B.C.E.

Mayor Wagner participated in the ceremony, which will be repeated at three performances of the Chanukah Festival for Israel Bonds on December 9, December 23 and January 2 in Madison Square Garden.
