The annual celebration of Lag B’Omer, observed here by a parade of Jewish schoolchildren and youth organization, was prohibited by police authorities.

All preparations had been made for the parade, and the order prohibiting it came as a surprise.  The authorities declared that they were afraid of a repetition of the May Day riots.

The Lag B’Omer parades were instituted in Warsaw in 1915 when the Russians evacuated Poland.
