A resolution opposing Congressional proposals for group libel laws that would outlaw publication of dissemination of material defaming racial or religious groups was adopted here last night at the closing session of the four-day 42nd annual convention of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League. The resolution warned that “unless carefully drawn with Constitutional safeguards for the protection of free speech and a free press would boomerang and more harm than good.”

Henry Edward Schultz was reelected national chairman of the ADL for a fourth term. On a telecast of the ADL convention, Mr. Schultz awarded the organization’s America’s Democratic Legacy Award for this year to representatives of the Carnegie Corporation and the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations for their “indispensable role in promoting the welfare of the people.”
