Representatives of colleges and universities in several neighboring states are participating in a “crack-the-quota” conference which opened here today at American University.

The conference, sponsored by the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League, will attempt to eliminate racial and religious discrimination in institutions of higher learning. George Washington University here has declined to participate in the parley.

Chief Post Office Inspector Clifton C. Garner has made known that he has issued instructions to field offices to avoid the use of such phrases as “Jewish appearance” on fugitive “wanted” posters exhibited in post offices. In a letter to the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League, Mr. Garner said that such expressions “could be objectionable to segments of our population.”
