Less than four hours after German troops marched into Carlsbad, shop after shop was daubed with the word “Jew” or anti-Jewish slogans and some windows were smashed, the News-Chronicle reported today from Praha. The newspaper also reported that the Czechoslovak authorities, seeking to prevent creation of huge new minorities comprising German Democrats and Jews, are preventing large-scale emigration to districts near Praha, turning back entire cattle-trains loaded with refugees.
