French authorities in Syria have announced that the Vichy Government’s anti-Jewish decrees recently applied to the French North African colonies will also be enforced in Syria, it was reported today from Beirut.
The Jews in Syria, numbering about 20,000 will not be allowed to hold positions in Government offices, newspapers or radio stations, the reports said. Other decrees will be issued restricting their business activities.
