The anti-Jewish riots in Egypt demonstrate the insecurity of Jews in neighboring Arab countries and emphasize the necessity of allowing then, and Jews from Europe, to immigrate to Palestine, the secret “Voice of Israel” radio said last night.
The broadcaster said that the Jews in Palestine wish to live in peace with the Arab people, and declared that the violence which occurred here on Thursday was not used at the Arabs. Stating that Jews desire to collaborate with the Arabs in the affairs of politics, economics and religion, he added: “Long live the union of Jews and Arabs.”
Replying to the statement by Colonial Secretary George Hall, made in the House of Commons on Friday, that the Zionist cause would suffer as a result of terrorist outbreaks, and that the sympathy of its supporters would be alienated, the broadcast said that world-wide sympathy did not prevent the issuance of the White Paper and the under of 6,000,000 Jews in Europe, many of whom could have been saved, if the White Paper restrictions had not been in force.
“Our enemies call us terrorists,” the announcer said. “That is a lie. Not only British leaders, but their Palestine representatives know we want the best relations with Britain and the British Commonwealth. We are denied our rights because of the alleged fear of Arab reaction. Our self-restraint is interpreted as a sign of weakness and fear. That also is a lie. We mean to build and not destroy.”
