An anonymous letter threatening bodily punishment to him and his family was received by Maurice A. Speizer, active member of the anti-Nazi Minute Men, Coney Island unit, it was disclosed yesterday. On account of illness, Speizer was not given the letter. His wife turned it over to the police.
The letter was received at the Speizer Printing Shop, 3157 Coney Island avenue. Edward Roman, commander of the Coney Island Post of the Minute Men, said when he saw the letter:
“We are ready for trouble.”
The letter came on the heels of a meeting of the chapter held Thursday night last on the corner of Brighton Beach and Sixth avenues, Brooklyn. It reads as follows:
“It seems you cannot read German so we are writing to you in English. If you don’t keep your mouth shut, I feel sorry for you and family (signed) Nazi.”
