A committee of nine Anti-Nazi Minute Men of the United States, headed by Alexander Fitelson, visited City Hall Friday afternoon to call on Mayor LaGuardia and had to be content with an interview with the Mayor’s executive secretary, Lawrence B. Dunham.
The committee had come to protest against the projected Friends of New Germany rally at Madison Square Garden May 17, on the grounds that it would incite to riot, hatred and intolerance, and to ask the Mayor to forbid the meeting. Nazi literature was produced by the committee in support of its contentions.
Dunham promised to consult with the Mayor on the matter the following morning and inform the committee of his decision.
