For assaulting a Jewish couple on the street, and subjecting them to anti-Semitic indignities, a Berlin ruffian named Motzkeit was sent to jail for three months by a local German court of appeal.
The chairman of the Berlin Community, Heinz Galinski, had filed a protest with Senator Dr. Kielinger, the head of the Berlin administration of justice, when the defendant got off with only a fine in an earlier trial, and the prosecutor also appealed. Now Dr. Kielinger has informed Mr. Galinski that the new verdict “may be considered to satisfy the concept of adequate retribution, which you rightly referred to.”
Seven neo-Nazi agitators in the Herford and Detmold area of the British zone were given jail terms ranging from seven to ten months by a Dortmund court for having engaged in subversive activities and for reviving the “Socialist Reich Party” (SRP), which was outlawed; last summer as a successor organization of the Nazi Party.
