Anti-Semitic terrorists set fire on Friday night to the orthodox synagogue at Mako, near Szeged. The entire building was destroyed.

While no details are yet available here, Minister of the Interior Laszlo Rajk today issued a statement sharply condemning the arson. He emphasized that those responsible would be severely punished.

Jewish leaders here today took issue with the official statement issued by the Government, which declared that last week’s anti-Semitic riots in Kunmadaras, in which three Jews were killed and several wounded, was due to “mass-hysteria.” They charge that the riots were planned in advance by fascist propagandists who spread anti-Jewish rumors which led to the attacks.
